10 Unusual Hotels Around The World: Some Are A Bit Weird

Bucket List, Hotels
I don't know about you, but when planning a trip, I research hotels like crazy. Actually, scratch that - even when I'm not planning a trip, I still stalk hotels on the web like crazy. Because you never know when the inspiration for your next adventure will come, right? Along the way this has led to, how can I put this, 'interesting discoveries', hehe. So just for fun I thought I'd share some of these unusual hotels around the world with you. Would you stay at any of these? 10 unusual hotels around the world, and yes, some are a bit weird   1. V8 Hotel, Stuttgart, Germany Car enthusiasts don't get it much better than this. Attached to Motorworld, this hotel is a homage to the motor industry. Themed rooms include a Drive-in cinema, a garage and a Racing room; winners' pod...
Absalon Hotel in Copenhagen: A review

Absalon Hotel in Copenhagen: A review

Europe, Hotels
It's surprising how quickly normality returns after a trip away, boo! We've had a fantastic time visiting Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Orkney, but all good things come to an end. On the bright side I now have 2 weeks of wonderful travel memories to write about, and what better place to start than at the Absalon Hotel in Copenhagen, our pre-cruise hotel for 2 nights. So grab yourself a cuppa and get comfy because I have lots of photos to share! Before I go further I want to mention that I did pay to stay at this hotel, but received a discounted rate. There were no conditions to write a favourable review and opinions, as always, are my own. Besides I'm way too opinionated to let someone else talk with my voice! Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando: A virtual tour

Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando: A virtual tour

Florida Review, Hotels, Orlando & Florida
On our trip to Florida last October we decided to spend a few days visiting Universal Orlando. As this was a last minute decision, we unfortunately were unable to stay anywhere 'onsite' as every single resort was completely full, arrgh! Still, lets not allow a small detail like 'fully booked' get in the way of a good old fashioned snoop! We wasted no time popping along to investigate. If you're visiting Universal Orlando soon, you might also want to read my review of the Universal Quick Service Dining Plan that's available to all guests in the theme parks. Portofino Bay Hotel This resort is about 15 minutes walk from the Universal parks or you can use the resort transportation to take you there. It was a glorious day so we walked. We got our first peek of the hotel as we approac...
Disney’s Vero Beach: Exploring the Florida coast

Disney’s Vero Beach: Exploring the Florida coast

Disney, Hotels
Along with it's theme parks, Florida is famous for having miles and miles of beautiful beaches and with it's long thin shape you're never more than 60 minutes drive away from the coast. Disney's Vero Beach resort Located on the Atlantic coast about 2 hours drive from Orlando and you'll find a much quieter and calmer experience than you'll receive if you were staying in one of the Walt Disney World resorts. I'm obviously a central Florida junkie, but even I like to escape from tourist-centric nature of the area for a change of pace. Disney's Vero Beach is an ideal distance away - far enough for it to feel like a different world in both scenery and atmosphere from Orlando, but still close enough for it to be an easy drive. It can even be done in a day visit if you like. The archi...
Hotel Reding Barcelona Review: Our pre-cruise stay

Hotel Reding Barcelona Review: Our pre-cruise stay

Europe, Hotels
Sailing from the Port of Barcelona for my Disney Magic cruise, we found myself in need of a place to sleep pre-cruise in the city for just one night. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just a reasonably priced and clean hotel with free wi-fi and close to the action for some whirlwind touristy stuff. Oh, and preferably easy to reach from the airport. Enter stage left, the 3 Star rated Hotel Reding Barcelona. As we are normally loaded with luggage I would ordinarily arrange a transfer from the airport to hotel. Fortunately the Hotel Reding is only a couple of minutes walk around the corner from the Aerobus bus stop at Universitat. Whilst the journey might have taken a teensy bit longer, it's only 3 stops and was a pretty decent ride. Score 1, saved some euro! This boutique hot...
